"M" for miracle

奇蹟, 奇跡

Since last week after receiving the feline mammary gland tumor samples, I started to question my cell culture technique; the feline mammary gland primary cell culture isolated from the tumor samples all "race hard" among each other to get contaminated, no matter how hard I tried to salvage them.

Until I processed the last sample on 13 of April, I only discovered there was pus in one of the samples, which could contribute to the "contamination race".

To resort to desperate measures, I "bath" the cells with antibiotic. Lots of the cells died, of course.

Miracle happens this morning, there is one colony of cells survived from contamination and "antibiotic bath".

There is a saying "We can only appreciate the miracle of a sunrise if we have waited in the darkness”; and I only found my miracle in cell culture only after almost all the cell died of contamination......

I hope the cells will appreciate what Albert Einstein had said, "There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle.” And continue to live miracle-ly ......

Rare colony from quite a rare cancer......
