A few weeks ago, I watched the movie of the same title directed by Danny Boyle.
Slumdog Millionaire is an extraordinary novel and movie, I would say; if not mistaken, the plot in the movie, in deed, differs from the novel. I am not sure, perhaps I should watch the movie again to double confirm.
The plot of the story, in fact, is very simple, but yet brilliantlly and beutifully narated the culture, religions, economics and history of India. I think, it is not wrong for me to say, there is hardly another movie or novel that shows these much of India......
Under the poverty, people are in the rat race for the money; whereas, above the poverty, for much more abstract stuffs such as dignity, fame and beauty. All these are merely for the survival. Above all, there is family and love...... I would say after reading the novel......
I realized a long time ago that dreams have power only over your own mind; but with money you you can have power over the minds of others.
How true.....
Suddenly, one of the famous quote from Master Chin Kung flashes into my mind
"和平= 和睦相处,平等对待”;literally, it means we ought to live in hormony, and treat all the others equally to achieve peace......
This is one of the best novel and best movie, I read and watched, respectrively; in 2009......
Can't wait to read Six Suspects, by Vikas Swarup......
